It's 2026 and I read about vibe coding and I just needed to get on that train.
"What are some good use cases?", "What have others built?", "What can I improve?"
I am told to look not at what problems to solve from others but for myself. I live a basic life with family, 9-5 job, no real big problems in my life that need solving.
So I was stuck...
Then the thought popped into my head: how about looking at some of the startups from the 2000s and 2010s that failed despite massive VC backing to see if I could do it better or cheaper or find a niche? So I started searching and searching, manually logging in my Excel, found great dead companies with like 50, 100, 500m investments but dead.
But hey, I can automate the search. I found different direct sources, old press releases cross-checked with either company URLs, public records, etc.
And then I just decided to put this in a web app for easy access and asked on Reddit if anyone could use it and boom—100k views in 12hrs.
I like the neo-brutalism design and edgy colors and thought it would be fun to give it some gaming edge as I am a passionate gamer to say the least (thanks to Arc Raiders looting all night).
So Loot Drop is my first real vibe-code project. It’s messy. It’s a work in progress. But it's full of billion-dollar lessons that are now free for the taking.
Start looting.
